Most visitors leave on a first visit without becoming customers; that is normal. Retargeting reminds them later so they return.
How it works
A measurement code on your site marks the visitor at browser level. Later, when that person browses another site or social media, they see an ad from you.
When it helps
- In long decision processes: yacht charter, villas, wedding venues
- In stores with abandoned carts; see cart abandonment
- For people who showed interest before the season but did not book
Good practice
- Split the audience: A different message for those who viewed a product page and those who only visited the home page.
- Limit frequency: Too much repetition annoys.
- Set a time window: Show while interest is fresh.
- Offer value: A discount, extra information or reviews.
Consent and privacy
Tell visitors about the measurement code in line with personal data and cookie rules; get consent where needed. See cookie and privacy texts in the web design process.
Measurement
Number of conversions and cost; see measuring with Analytics and Search Console.
Retargeting is set up within Facebook and Instagram ads and Google Ads. For budget see planning an online marketing budget. Service: online marketing in Bodrum. An example with a long decision process: Spice Emlak.
