Measuring with Google Analytics and Search Console

You cannot manage what you do not measure. Google’s two free tools show how your site works and base marketing decisions on data, not guesses.

Google Search Console

Tells you how your site appears in search: how many impressions and clicks you get for which searches, average position, indexed pages, crawl errors, mobile usability and Core Web Vitals. It is essential for SEO and the first place to look when you move or redesign.

Google Analytics

Tells you what visitors do on your site: how many came, where from (search, social media, ads), which pages they looked at, how often they tapped the phone button and the form.

Which metrics?

  • Organic impressions, clicks and position (Search Console)
  • Traffic sources (Analytics)
  • Conversions: phone taps, forms, bookings
  • Page speed and mobile issues
  • The most-read pages and posts

Set-up

A small code or file is added to your site for verification. When using measurement code, follow privacy and cookie rules; we set this up with you during web design.

Reporting

Looking at a few metrics monthly beats drowning in numbers. To follow SEO results see when do SEO results show.
